1960s Nonsport Cartoon, Humor, and Parody Themed Card Collection (including 825 cards, 267 packs, etc.)

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $4,443.75

Tremendous collection of material from eight different 1960s nonsport issues as well as a treasure trove of salesman's material directly related to the sale of these very cards, consisting of 825 cards and 267 packs, along with display boxes and wrappers, from eight unusual sets produced by Fleer, Leaf, and Topps. Each of the sets represented in this collection would not be considered mainstream, and one or two may have only been regionally distributed (or tested) without reaching full-scale distribution. 1) Circa 1965 Fleer "Stupid Stamps": Two complete 24-pack wax boxes (packs are Vg-Ex and Nr/Mt) plus one near-complete wax box containing seventeen packs (Nr/Mt). Each of the boxes presents with bold color but displays some wear (staining on one, bowing/separated joints on two). Also included is one complete set of 108 stamps in complete panel form (Ex) plus ten two-card panels (Ex-Mt/Nr/Mt). 2) 1965 Leaf "Fink Buttons": Complete 24-pack wax box (packs and box Nr/Mt) plus eleven additional packs (Nr/Mt). 3) 1965 Topps "Flying Things": Two complete first series (orange) boxes (each containing twelve packs) and one later series (blue) box (containing twelve packs). Also included are ten additional late-series packs. All the packs are in Nr/Mt-Mt condition (with one lesser). The boxes present very well (first series Ex and later series Nr/Mt). 4) 1965 Topps "Silly Stickers": Six near-complete sets of fifty-four stickers each (Ex to Nr/Mt condition). Not much is known about this set, but Chris Benjamin's definitive work, The Sport Americana Price Guide to the Non-Sports Cards 1961-Present, lists the set complete at fifty-five cards while only listing a fifty-three card checklist. The offered sets are each missing the "Cape Canaveral" card listed on Benjamin's checklist but include two cards not listed: "Keep Our City Clean" and "Expelled from Yale University." Also included are 137 additional duplicate stickers (twenty-three different, Ex to Nr/Mt condition), one empty wax pack display box (Nr/Mt), and three wrappers (Nr/Mt). 5) 1966 Fleer "Baseball Weird-Ohs": One complete 24-pack wax box (packs Ex-Mt, box Vg-Ex) and one partial wax box (eleven packs, Ex-Mt and box, Pr). Also included are six wrappers (Nr/Mt), two complete 66-card sets (pack fresh, but Ex/Ex-Mt or lesser due to centering), and thirty-three stickers (eighteen different, Ex-Mt to Nr/Mt). 6) 1966 Fleer "Looney Labels and Stamps": Near-complete wax box containing twenty-three wax packs (Nr/Mt or better). The box presents well but shows evidence of crushing from storage throughout the years. 7) 1968 Fleer "Monster Marks": Sixty-six rub-off tattoos (six different, Nr/Mt or better) and five instruction cards (Ex/Ex-Mt). 8) 1960s/1970s Fleer "Sneekies Plastic Stickers": Two complete 24-pack wax boxes plus one partial wax box containing fifteen packs. Almost all packs have an entirely loosened seal and present in Vg to Nr/Mt condition. The display boxes are all Poor (one missing entire top flap). 9) Miscellaneous Salesman's Material: Bazooka Bubble Gum Display Tubs (four), Bazooka clips (forty-five), Bazooka packaging tape (three boxed rolls, each picturing Bazooka Joe, the company name, and Spanish text), Bazooka pens (twenty-one), Bazooka pocket protectors (thirty-three). This is a fascinating and sizable collection of cards, packs, and related material from the unusual and interesting nonsport issues of the mid-to-late 1960s. Total: 825 cards, fourteen boxes containing 267 packs, nine wrappers, and 106 pieces of advertising material. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000++. SOLD FOR $4,443.75
