1967 Topps "Wanted Posters" Unopened Wax Box Plus 3 Complete Sets and 73 Extra Posters

Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $829.50

Collection of one unopened wax box and 145 posters from the Topps "Wanted Posters" series. Issued by Topps in 1967, this unusual set contains twenty-four posters which measure 10 by 18.5 inches and feature a variety of everyday people, such as mother, father, and teacher among others, "wanted" for humorous "crimes" such as "refusing to increase allowances" or "assigning too much homework." The complete unopened wax box houses twenty-four five-cent wax packs, each of which contains one poster and a stick of gum. The packs are all in Nr/Mt-Mt condition. The display box has also been well preserved, displaying only light shelf wear and minor sinking of the top panel, likely as a result of storage throughout the years. Six empty wrappers in Nr/Mt condition accompany the box. Also included are a total of 145 posters, representing three complete 24-poster sets as well as seventy-three duplicates. The duplicates can serve as a foundation for up to five additional partial sets as each poster is represented by two to five examples (aside from those already included in the complete set count) except for Father (one), Dentist (zero), and Teacher's Pet (zero). The posters range in condition from Ex to Nr/Mt with a few lesser due to tears in the fragile stock or toning related to age. This is an outstanding collection from this unusual 1960s Topps nonsport issue. Total: 1 box containing 24 packs plus 6 wrappers and 145 posters. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $829.50
