1966 Donruss "Green Hornet Stickers" Unopened Wax Boxes (2 boxes, 48 packs)

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $2,962.50

Two complete unopened wax boxes from the Donruss "Green Hornet Stickers" issue. Each box houses twenty-four five-cent wax packs, each containing three cards that are actually "pressure-sensitive" peel-off stickers. Issued in 1966, this 44-card set was produced to coincide with the ABC television series following the exploits of the Green Hornet, a masked, crime-fighting vigilante. The show was a hit during the two seasons it aired, and the Green Hornet remains a very popular character to this day. Each box has been beautifully preserved. All forty-eight packs are tightly wrapped and in Nr/Mt-Mt or better condition. The display boxes present with vibrant colors and illustrations. One box is in Near Mint or better condition with tiny traces of handling wear along the bottom. The second box displays as Excellent with slight staining visible in the top left corner on both the top and bottom panels as well as horizontal creasing on the back side panel, consistent with the storage of a heavier item on top for many years. The die-cut top panel, intended to be popped out for store display, is entirely unpunched on one box and only slightly punched on the other. While it is impossible to provide guarantees with reference to grading of unopened material, there is, of course, the very real possibility that within this box are Mint or Gem Mint cards from this set. These are two superb complete wax boxes, appearing exactly as they did on store shelves nearly fifty years ago, from this very popular mid-1960s nonsport issue. Total: 2 boxes, 48 packs. Reserve $500. Estimate $2,000+. SOLD FOR $2,962.50
