1911 T205 Gold Border Ty Cobb

Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $1,303.50

Graded VG-EX 4 by GAI. Ty Cobb card from the T205 Gold Border set, one of the most popular of all 1910-era tobacco issues. This is a very pleasing example of one of card collecting's most classic cards, from what is perhaps card collecting's single most condition-sensitive issue. Cobb is not just the most valuable card in the set, it also one of the most well known and popular of all Ty Cobb cards. This example displays with bold, bright color, flawless registration, and near-perfect centering. The delicate gold borders show minor chipping along the edges and at the corners, which does not detract from the card's visual appeal. We grade this card VG (slightly lower than GAI) due to a crease at the top of the card. The Honest Long Cut advertising back is mostly clean with light toning and a small age spot visible. This card provides an excellent opportunity to acquire an appealing and relatively affordable alternative to a far more expensive higher-grade example of this classic Ty Cobb card. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $1,303.50
