1933 R124 World Wide Gum (Canadian Goudey) "Sea Raiders" Low-Number Uncut Sheet (#1-24)

Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $4,443.75

Ahoy Matey! Presented is an extraordinary complete 24-card original uncut sheet of 1933 R124 World Wide Gum (Canadian Goudey) "Sea Raiders" bubblegum cards, one of nonsport-card collecting's greatest classics. This is a complete production sheet with fully printed backs featuring all twenty-four cards from the R124 "Sea Raiders" low-number series (#1-24). Each card features an image of a legendary pirate (such as Blackbeard, Captain Kidd, Sir Henry Morgan, etc.) or a scene related to a pirate's lifestyle (such as "walking the plank") on the front. The back of each card features the biography for the pirate or a description of the pirate-related scene. This sheet displays beautifully! Bright and crisp, with brilliant colors, and a simply outstanding overall appearance. The sheet has a couple small creases in the lower right corner. Most of the interior cards are Nr/Mt-Mt. A few small areas of paper loss on the reverse affect the text of some cards and almost certainly relate to the sheet's storage long ago in the Goudey Gum Company archive file books (which were discovered and dispersed to the four corners of the collecting world in 1969). A true rarity and a prize nonsport sheet from one of the key gum-card issues of the 1930s. The sheet measures 14-1/4 x 11-1/2 inches and has also been very professionally and expensively double-side matted and framed (so both the front and back can be viewed) to dimensions of 25-3/4 x 23-5/8 inches. Reserve $1,000. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $4,443.75
