1957 & 1958 Bob Dylan Sophomore and Junior High-School Yearbooks (2)

Starting Bid - $400.00, Sold For - $711.00

Celebrity high-school yearbooks have become a popular field of collectibles in recent years. Presented here are two extremely significant examples dating, respectively, from the sophomore and junior years of singer/songwriter Bob Dylan. Each of these books has been consigned directly from the family of Larry Fabbro (1941-2010), who was a classmate and key member of Dylan's first bands in high school ("The Shadow Blasters" and “Cashmeres”). Each of these yearbooks, dated 1957 and 1958, respectively, are from Hibbing High School in Hibbing, Minnesota. Dylan, whose birth name was Robert Zimmerman, is pictured on page sixty-nine of the 1957 yearbook as a member of the sophomore class. He is also pictured on page 101 as a member of the Latin Club. The 1958 edition pictures Dylan simply as a member of his junior class on page forty-seven. While Dylan has not signed either yearbook, the 1957 edition features a lengthy inscription to Fabbro from Echo Helstrum, Dylan's girlfriend who is often cited as his inspiration for the ballad Girl from the North Country. Both yearbooks, each titled Hematite, display moderate wear and the interior pages feature numerous student inscriptions to Fabbro. Aside from a few small tears to the protective plastic covers, both books remain in Excellent condition overall. This is an exceptionally desirable pair of celebrity yearbooks offering a unique look back at the roots of Bob Dylan, who would soon become the musical spokesman for an entire generation. Total: 2 yearbooks. Reserve $400. Estimate $800/$1,200.
