Circa 1960 Roy Orbison Concert Poster

Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $948.00

Broadside announcing the appearance of Roy Orbison and Orchestra at the M&M Skateway in Suisun, California, on October 8th. This is one of the earliest Roy Orbison concert posters extant. The poster features a large portrait image of Orbison and notes three of his 1960 recorded singles: "Only the Lonely," "Blue Angel," and "Today's Teardrop." In addition to the songs listed, the poster can also be dated to circa 1960 because Orbison is pictured without his signature black sunglasses, which he first began wearing around 1962. This an exceedingly rare Roy Orbison concert poster and only the second example we have ever seen. The fact that it dates to time of his breakthrough as a recording star only adds to its appeal. The broadside (14 x 22 inches), printed on cardboard stock, displays light toning along the right border, as well as general border wear and a number of minor surface blemishes. In Very Good to Excellent condition overall. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $948.00
