1910-1911 C59 Imperial Tobacco "Lacrosse Series" Complete Set (100)

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $5,925.00

Complete set of the rare C59 Imperial Tobacco cards, devoted exclusively to the game of lacrosse. This 100-card set is one the premier lacrosse sets of the era along with the similarly themed C60 set. Both are highly popular among many serious collectors, including hockey-card collectors, and are appreciated for their great scarcity and resemblance to the popular C55 and C56 "Hockey Series" cards from the same era. These very significant and scarce sets are often overlooked by collectors, but present fantastic opportunities to acquire colorful, early sports cards of several notable lacrosse players as well as many future Hockey Hall of Famers, including "Newsy" LaLonde, Paddy Moran, Joseph Malone, and Bouse Hutton. This is the first complete set of this issue that we have ever offered. Condition is 24% Vg to Vg-Ex, 63% Pr to Gd, and 13% trimmed/handcut. Keys: #18 Hutton (Vg), 75 Moran (Fr), 84 Malone (Vg), 97 LaLonde (Vg), and 100 LaLonde (Gd). This is a very presentable mixed-grade complete set of this scarce and desirable tobacco issue featuring numerous highlights and appealing to lacrosse- and hockey-card collectors alike. Total: 100 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $5,925.00
