1910 E90-3 American Caramel PSA- and SGC-Graded Complete Set (20)
Starting Bid - $2,500.00, Sold For - $8,887.50
Presented is an extremely rare complete set of 1910 E90-3 American Caramel, entirely graded and encapsulated by PSA or SGC. The E90-3 American Caramel set is actually even rarer than the E90-1 series (except for the key rare cards in the set) or the E90-2 Pittsburgh series cards. This is truly a set unto itself, slightly different in design from the other American Caramel cards and featuring only Cubs and White Sox players, including Hall of Famers Mordecai Brown, Joe Tinker, Johnny Evers, and Ed Walsh, as well as future "Black Sox" star Chic Gandil. Sometimes we think this set is a little overlooked simply because the set is rare and the prefix of its catalog designation (E90) is shared by E90-1 and E90-2, both sets which are actively collected and get all the attention. In thirty-eight years of specializing in vintage cards, we have never had a complete set of E90-3 to offer. We can't say that about too many early sets. This is an amazing collection of these extremely distinctive and rare "E" cards. The condition composite is as follows: EX 60/5 (5 cards): Brown (HOF, SGC), Overall (PSA), Payne (PSA), Schulte (PSA), and Smith (PSA). VG-EX 50/4 (3 cards): Archer (PSA), Hofman (SGC), and Sheckard (PSA). VG 40/3 (9 cards): Blackburne (PSA), Chance (HOF, PSA, MK), Cole (SGC), Dougherty (SGC), Hahn (SGC), Purtell (SGC), Steinfeldt (SGC), Tinker (HOF, SGC, Lionel Carter Collection), and Walsh (HOF, SGC). GOOD 30/2 (3 cards): Evers (HOF, PSA), Gandil (Black Sox, PSA), and Zeider (SGC). This is an outstanding opportunity to acquire a complete set of one of the rarest of all 1910-era candy issues. Total: 20 cards. Reserve $2,500. Estimate $5,000+. SOLD FOR $8,887.50
