Ted Williams Memorabilia Collection (6)

Starting Bid - $100.00, Sold For - $177.75

Collection of six Ted Williams collectibles. 1) Vintage 1940s Ted Williams Coca-Cola cardboard advertising sign. While Williams is not mentioned by name, nor does the sign carry his official endorsement, the image of a left-handed batter featured here would very likely not have been mistaken for anyone other than "The Splendid Splinter" at the time. The colorful sign (13.5 x 21.5 inches) pictures Williams in his follow-through swing, with a bottle of Coca-Cola pictured in the upper left corner. This was one of a number of similarly designed baseball signs, each featuring thinly veiled illustrations of the game's top stars, issued by Coca-Cola during the era. The sign is lightly toned and displays a few creases, as well as one or two small edge tears. In Very Good condition. 2) Ted Williams photo, circa 1950s/early 1960s. Postcard-size (3.5 x 5.5 inches) souvenir photo of Williams posing on field. The signature on the front is a secretarial signature. Vg-Ex. 3) Ted Williams Jimmy Fund tag. Small diamond-shaped tag (3 x 3 inches) featuring Williams' image and facsimile signature, reading "This is my way of telling you how much I appreciate your interest in the 'JIMMY FUND.'" The reverse features an illustration of the Jimmy Fund Cancer Research facility. Complete with original string. Ex. 4) September 1, 1941, issue of Life magazine (10.5 x 14 inches) featuring Williams on the cover. Williams hit .406 in 1941. Vg, with a diagonal crease in the lower right. 5) Circa 1970s Ted Williams alarm clock. The face of the clock (4 inches in height), features a photo of Williams in uniform. Not in working order; otherwise, Vg-Ex. 6) The Science of Hitting by Ted Williams (Fireside edition, 1971). Williams' classic treatise on hitting. Vg. Total: 6 items. Reserve $100. Estimate $300+. SOLD FOR $177.75
