1950-1964 World Series and All-Star Game Ticket Collection (19) - From the Keith Sutton Collection - Founding Member of SABR

Collection of seventeen World Series tickets and two All-Star Game tickets, spanning the years 1950 through 1964, each with the unique provenance of originating from the personal collection of Keith Sutton, who was one of the founding members of SABR (Society for American Baseball Research). (A number of Sutton's other personal souvenirs, including cards, programs, and autographs, are offered as separate lots elsewhere in this auction.) Sutton, whose biography can be viewed on the SABR website (, attended each of the games represented here, as evidenced by his pencil or ink notations (score, date, etc.) on the reverse of nearly every ticket. World Series Tickets: 1) 1950, Game 1, Shibe Park; 2) 1950, Game 2, Shibe Park (DiMaggio home run); 3) 1950, Game 3, Yankee Stadium; 4) 1950, Game 4, Yankee Stadium; 5) 1951, Game 1, Yankee Stadium (Mantle's first World Series game); 6) 1951, Game 2, Yankee Stadium; 7) 1951, Game 3, Polo Grounds; 8) 1953, Game 1, Yankee Stadium; 9) 1953, Game 2, Yankee Stadium (Mantle's third career World Series home run); 10) 1954, Game 1, Polo Grounds (Mays' famous catch off the bat of Vic Wertz); 11-13) 1957, Game 2, Yankee Stadium (three individual stubs from the game); 14-15) 1958, Game 4, Yankee Stadium (two individual stubs from the game); 16) 1958, Game 5, Yankee Stadium (full unused ticket); 17) 1964, Game 6, Connie Mack Stadium (phantom ticket; full ticket). All-Star Tickets: 1) 1952, Shibe Park (Jackie Robinson's only All-Star Game home run) and 2) 1959, Forbes Field (first of two All-Star Games played that season). Six of the tickets are irregularly torn as is often the case with tickets. Without regard to that, or the notations on the reverse, the collection grades Ex overall with the exception of one of the 1958 World Series stubs, which has one edge covered in clear tape (not in repair of a tear). In addition to the actual game tickets, the collection also includes ten of Keith Sutton's World Series field passes and two of his All-Star Game field passes (various games from the 1950s and 1960s) nearly all of which bear his name and newspaper affiliation (Wayne Independent).
