Circa 1950 Joe DiMaggio Wallet - Mint in Original Box!

Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $355.50

Rare circa 1950 Joe DiMaggio leather wallet, in its original box, featuring colorfully embossed illustrations of the "Yankee Clipper" by noted sports artist Willard Mullin. DiMaggio is featured in a batting pose on the front, while the reverse pictures him jumping to make a catch. DiMaggio's gilt facsimile signature also appears on the front. This wallet was part of a line of products, all featuring the artwork of Willard Mullin, that included a number of baseball stars from the era, including Jackie Robinson, Ted Williams, and Stan Musial. This wallet is a true condition rarity and the offered example is by far the finest example we have ever seen. The wallet, which remains housed in its original box, is in Gem Mint condition and is complete with its original printed identification card (found within one of the interior plastic sleeves). The original box, which bears the manufacturer's name ("Congress") on the front, displays a little wear and is in Very Good to Excellent condition. (Note: we've never seen another box, in any condition!) These wallets are seldom seen today, and Gem Mint examples such as this are practically nonexistent. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+. SOLD FOR $355.50
