1928-1937 World Series Ticket Collection (16) - From the Keith Sutton Collection - Founding Member of SABR

Collection of sixteen World Series ticket stubs, spanning the years 1928 through 1937, each with the unique provenance of originating from the personal collection of Keith Sutton, who was one of the founding members of SABR (Society for American Baseball Research). A number of Sutton's other personal souvenirs, including cards, programs, and autographs, are offered as separate lots elsewhere in this auction. Sutton, whose biography can be viewed on the SABR website (, attended each of the games represented here, as evidenced by his pencil notations (score, date, etc.) on the reverse of each ticket. The collection is comprised of the following: 1) 1928, Game 1, Yankee Stadium; 2) 1929, Game 3, Shibe Park; 3) 1930, Game 6, Shibe Park (pencil notations on the front instead of the reverse); 4) 1933, Game 1, Polo Grounds; 5) 1933, Game 2, Polo Grounds; 6) 1936, Game 1, Polo Grounds; 7) 1936, Game 2, Polo Grounds; 8) 1936, Game 3, Yankee Stadium (Gehrig home run); 9) 1936, Game 4, Yankee Stadium (Gehrig home run); 10) 1936, Game 5, Yankee Stadium; 11) 1936, Game 6, Polo Grounds; 12) 1937, Game 1, Yankee Stadium; 13) 1937, Game 2, Yankee Stadium; 14) 1937, Game 3, Polo Grounds; 15) 1937, Game 4, Polo Grounds (Gehrig home run); 16) 1937, Game 5, Polo Grounds (DiMaggio home run). Nine of the tickets are irregularly torn. Without regard to that, or the pencil notations, the collection grades Ex overall, with the exception of 1936 Game 1 (Gd-Vg) and 1929 (Vg; surface paper loss on reverse). Total: 16 tickets.
