1902 W600 Sporting Life Cabinet Joseph J. Kelley

Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $3,258.75

Graded EX 60 by SGC. Extremely sharp-looking example of Hall of Famer Joe Kelley in street clothes from the very popular W600 Sporting Life cabinet-card set. Two variations of Kelley (both in street clothes) were issued in the W600 set: one with an "Outfielder" designation (1902) and one with a "Manager and Outfielder" designation (Kelley was a player/manager from 1903 to 1905). The offered example is the earlier "Outfielder" variation. This is an extremely bright and crisp card, both front and back, with just a hint of light, even wear to the corners. No creases. Strong Excellent condition. W600 Sporting Life cabinet cards were available only by mail and they are universally recognized as among the most substantial and highest-quality baseball-card sets ever issued. This is an exceptional example of one of Joe Kelley’s rarest and most impressive cards from one of the most desirable baseball-card sets of the era. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,500+.
