1903 W600 Sporting Life Cabinet Roger Bresnahan Rookie SGC EX/NM 80

Starting Bid - $1,500.00, Sold For - $3,851.25

Graded EX/NM 80 by SGC. Highest-graded example! Magnificent high-grade example of Hall of Famer Roger Bresnahan in uniform from the very popular W600 Sporting Life cabinet-card set, issued in 1903. SGC EX/NM 80 is an almost unheard of high grade for any W600 Sporting Life cabinet card, let alone for a significant Hall of Famer such as Roger Bresnahan. This is an extraordinary example of Roger Bresnahan's true rookie card. Two variations of Bresnahan (both in uniform) were issued in W600: one with a New York team designation (1903) and one with a St. Louis team designation (1909). The offered example is the earlier "New York" variation. Extremely bright, crisp, and clean, both front and back, with perfect centering and strong square corners with just a slight hint of wear. No creases. This card really couldn't be much better. W600 Sporting Life cabinet cards were available only by mail. They are universally recognized as among the most substantial and highest-quality baseball-card sets ever issued. This is an outstanding ultra high-grade example of one of Roger Bresnahan’s most majestic cards, and one that would be a significant addition to any world-class W600, Hall of Fame, or prewar-card collection. Reserve $1,500. Estimate $3,000/$5,000. SOLD FOR $3,851.25
