1903 E107 Breisch-Williams Joe McGinnity HOF Rookie

Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $2,370.00

Graded POOR 10 by SGC. E107 Breisch-Williams series card featuring Hall of Fame pitcher Joe “Iron Man” McGinnity of the New York Giants of the National League. Despite the low grade due to various faults, this is still a very pleasing card. McGinnity was one of the greatest pitching legends of his era. As a rookie he won 28 games, and for the next decade he averaged 25 victories each season, pitching over 300 innings every year but one. He earned his nickname by on occasion pitching both ends of a doubleheader. Issued in 1903, E107s have long been revered by collectors. This set represents the only major baseball-card set of the era, features many players that appear in no other sets, and includes the first cards ever issued of many important stars and Hall of Famers, including Joe McGinnity. Despite its obvious flaws (which include general wear and some surface paper loss at bottom right), this is a very desirable low-grade example of this extremely important card. Reserve $1,000. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $2,370.00
