1957 American and National League All-Star Team-Signed Balls (2)
Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $1,777.50
Pair of exceptional, high-grade team-signed baseballs, one for the American League and the other for the National League, dating from the 1957 All-Star Game, which was held at Sportsman's Park in St. Louis on July 9th. These balls have the special provenance of originating directly from the personal collection of Mel Allen, the legendary "voice of the Yankees." In 1997 Robert Edward Auctions had the privilege of offering all of the baseball memorabilia from Mel Allen's estate, with these balls representing just two of the many keepsakes saved by Mel Allen that were featured in that auction. They have not seen the light of day since and have been consigned to this auction directly from the original purchaser at the 1997 Mel Allen estate auction. 1) 1957 American League Team-Signed All-Star Ball.
