Joe Medwick Single-Signed Ball
Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $1,777.50
Indianapolis Indians souvenir ball signed by Hall of Fame outfielder Joe Medwick. Medwick has signed the ball in black ink across the sweet spot, with the signature grading "9/10." Medwick was employed by the St. Louis Cardinals as a minor-league hitting instructor from 1966 until his death in 1975. From 1968 through 1983 the Indianapolis Indians were a minor-league affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds, so it is reasonable to assume that this ball was signed by Medwick sometime between 1968 and 1975. A member of the St. Louis Cardinals famed "Gas House Gang," Medwick finished his seventeen-year career with a .324 lifetime average. Included among his many accomplishments were both an MVP and Triple Crown award, ten All-Star Game selections, and a batting title. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1968. The ball has no manufacturer's stampings and remains in Near Mint condition. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $1,777.50
