Lefty Grove Single-Signed Ball

Starting Bid - $400.00, Sold For - $1,540.50

Cooperstown souvenir ball (label reads "Home of Baseball/Cooperstown, N.Y.") signed by Hall of Fame pitcher Lefty Grove. Grove has signed the ball in black ink across the sweet spot, with the signature grading "8." Grove was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1947 and passed away in 1975. Given the fact that this is a Cooperstown souvenir ball, it seems reasonable to assume that Grove probably signed it during one of the many Hall of Fame induction ceremonies he attended between those years (the ball appears to date from the 1960s/early 1970s). The ball displays no manufacturer's stamps and is in Near Mint condition. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $400. Estimate $800/$1,200. SOLD FOR $1,540.50
