George Sisler Single-Signed Ball

Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $3,555.00

Official National League (Feeney) ball signed by Hall of Fame first baseman George Sisler. Sisler has scripted his name in black ink (grading "9") across the sweet spot, with the signature partially extending into the east panel. This ball dates from the 1970-1974 manufacturing period. The fact that Sisler died in 1973 means that it must have been signed sometime during the last years of his life. Sisler batted over .300 thirteen times during his fifteen-year career (1915-1930), including two season in which he topped the .400 mark. Today his lifetime average of .340 ranks fourteenth on the all-time list. This ball, in addition to featuring an outstanding Sisler signature, is also notable for its remarkable condition. All of the manufacturer's labels are bold and bright, and ball remains in Near Mint condition. This is an outstanding Sisler single in all respects and one that would appeal to even the most discriminating collector. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,500+. SOLD FOR $3,555.00
