1911 T205 Gold Border PSA/SGC-Graded Collection (34)

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $4,148

Extremely impressive, exceptionally high quality collection of thirty-four (31 different) T205 Gold Borders all graded and encapsulated by PSA (22 cards) and SGC (12 cards). Highlights include six Hall of Famers and several rarities (Chase, frame ends; Dougherty, red sock emblem; Hoblitzell, "Cin." after 2nd 1908; as well as Bresnahan, mouth open). The cards in this collection could provide a strong foundation for the assembly of an exceptional T205 set, or fill in holes or provide upgrades to an extremely high quality set in the process of being assembled. The PSA grades are as follows: One EX-MT 6: Lord. Sixteen EX 5: Barger (full B), Barry, Becker, Bresnahan (HOF, mouth open), Devore (MC), Dygert, Groom, Hartsel, Huggins (HOF), Kling, Konetchy, Lennox, Lush, Schaefer, Willett (MK), and Wiltse (both ears). Three VG-EX+ 4.5: Dougherty (red sock emblem), Tinker (HOF), and Wallace (HOF, cap). Two VG-EX 4: McGraw (HOF) and Tinker (HOF). The SGC grades are as follows: One EX+ 70: Reulbach. Ten EX 60: Barger (full B), Bransfield, Doyle, Hoblitzell ("Cin." after 2nd 1908, Cycle back), two Leever, McBride, Olmstead, Phelps, and Phillippe. One VG/EX 50: Chase (frame ends, Cycle back). The T205 set is one of card collecting's most condition-sensitive issues. Like most PSA- and SGC-graded T205s, the cards in this collection display far better than suggested by their technically accurate grades. This is a magnificent high-grade collection of one of card collecting's most classic issues. The equivalent SMR value for the collection (not including the two qualified cards) is $5,880. Total: 34 cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$4,000+. SOLD FOR $4,148
