1910 E90-2 American Caramel Honus Wagner
Starting Bid - $2,500, Sold For - $7,110
Graded VG-EX 4 by PSA. One of only four examples graded at this level. Extremely attractive example of the key card, Honus Wagner, from the 1910 E90-2 American Caramel set. This is an exceptional example of one of prewar-card collecting's most desirable and classic cards. The E90-2 American Caramel set was regionally issued in the Pittsburgh area, and features only members of the Pirates, the National League champions of the previous year. This is one of Honus Wagner's most striking and popular cards, and is particularly noteworthy to collectors and noncollectors alike in that it features a portrait image reminiscent of the pose which appears on his famous T206 card. This card has very strong eye-appeal. The colors are bright and bold. The background is flawless. Wagner’s image has perfect registration. This card could just as easily have been graded EX. The card has light, even corner wear, and just a little natural age toning to its extremely clean and crisply printed back. It may have been downgraded from EX by PSA due to just a hint too much corner wear in the lower left. This is a stunning high-grade example of this card, which is universally recognized as among the most classic and popular of all 1910-era Honus Wagner cards. Reserve $2,500. Estimate $5,000+.
