WITHDRAWN: Shirt Worn by Michael Richards as "Kramer" in Seinfeld
Starting Bid - $0, Sold For - $0
LOT WITHDRAWN: Our catalog description for this shirt states that it can be seen being worn by Kramer in two of the most memorable episodes from season four: "The Contest" and "The Bubble Boy." This is not correct. We are withdrawing the lot due to this error. There is a high likelihood that the shirt was worn in another episode(s), but due to time constraints, it is not practical for us to properly research the Kramer shirt before the auction closes. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Shirt worn by actor Michael Richards in his role of "Kramer" on Seinfeld. The gray, button-down shirt, with blue accents across the front and back, is perfectly suited to Kramer's "hipster-dufus" persona on the show, and can be seen being worn by Kramer in two of the most memorable episodes from season four: "The Contest" and "The Bubble Boy." The shirt is accompanied by a one-page typed letter signed by Michael Schiffman, a former stage hand on the set. In full: Re: Prop shirt worn by Michael Richards - Thank you for your purchase of the above-mentioned item. This multi colored shirt was issued to the wardrobe department of the television series "Seinfeld" for wear by actor Michael Richards. The shirt was issued to the set in 1989, and was worn on several occasions. As assistant to Prop Master Stan Ascough, I can verify the authenticity of this item. After the series ended, this shirt was sold for resale to "It's a Wrap Productions" located in Burbank, CA. I purchased this shirt in person at It's a Wrap on June 2nd, 1998. Schiffman's handwritten blue-ink notation along the base reads "Shirt can be seen in BubbleBoy episode + episode about a bet of abstinence." The shirt (size "XL") features a "California Casualaire" manufacturer's tag in the collar and displays light wear. Seinfeld, which ran on NBC from 1989 through 1998, was a groundbreaking comedy and one of the most popular television shows of the 1990s. Both a commercial and critical success, the show also gave rise to a series of catch phrases and words that now are part of our popular culture, including "yada, yada, yada", "master of your domain," "shrinkage," and "Festivus (for the rest of us)." In 2002 TV Guide named Seinfeld as the greatest television program of all time. Reserve $100. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $0
