1939 They Made Me a Criminal Insert Movie Poster
Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $1,541
Insert (14 x 36 inches) movie poster for the 1939 Warner Brothers release They Made Me a Criminal, starring John Garfield and the "Dead End" kids. This is an extremely scarce insert and, in terms of graphics, is far superior to the issued one sheet. The colorful image pictures a full-size image of Hollywood "tough guy" John Garfield in his portrayal of Johnnie Bradfield, a boxer on the run, wanted by the police for a murder he didn't commit. Interestingly, the film was directed by Busby Berkeley, who is best known today as one of Hollywood's greatest choreographers. The poster is paperbacked and displays a number of light horizontal folds. Professional restoration is seen in the form of repair to a number of border chips, tiny tears, and cracks in the linen finish. Color touches are also evident along the fold lines. The poster displays an Excellent overall appearance. Framed to total dimensions of 16.5 x 38.5 inches. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,500+. SOLD FOR $1,541
