1975 Fleer Immortals Signed Set - Signed by 59 of the 60 Possible Players!

Starting Bid - $400, Sold For - $1,422

Complete set of 1975 Fleer "Immortal Roll" Football cards (84 total) featuring autographed examples of 59 of the 60 cards in the set that could possibly have been signed (the Sid Luckman card features a secretarial signature). In the field of football autograph collection, the goal of obtaining a complete signed set of 1975 Fleer "Immortal Roll" football cards is extremely difficult because a few of the players, most notably Ernie Nevers, passed away shortly after the set was issued. The set, which is comprised of eighty-four cards, featured only Hall of Fame members and was the first such set to be sold at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. Of the eighty-four cards issued, only sixty could possibly have been signed. Many collectors of that era took up the challenge of obtaining those sixty signatures, but few accomplished the task. Presented here is a very rare signed set in which this goal has been nearly achieved. The fifty-nine signed cards in the complete eighty-four card set offered here are those of Battles, Baugh, Bednarik, Berry, P. Brown, R. Brown, Canadeo, Christiansen, Clark, Connor, Donovan, Dudley, Fears, Fortmann, George, Graham, Grange, Groza, Halas, Healey, Hein, Hinkle, Hirsch, Hubbard, Hunt, Hutson, Kinard, Lane, Lavelli, Layne, Marchetti, Matson, McAfee, McElhenny, McNally (signed on the back), Michalske, Millner, Moore, Motley, Nagurski, Nevers, Nomellini, C. Parker, J. Parker, Perry, Pihos, Robustelli, Rooney, Schmidt, Stautner, Strong, Stydahar, Tittle, Trippi, Turner, Van Brocklin, Van Buren, Waterfield, and Wojciechowicz. The Perry and Trippi cards have each been encapsulated by PSA/DNA, with the autographs labeled "Authentic." As noted earlier, the SidLuckman card in this set bears a secretarial signature. All of the signatures appear on the front of the card (with the exception of McNally; on back) and have been scripted in a variety of inks, ranging in grade from "6" to "10," averaging "9." The cards remain in Near Mint condition overall. Total: 84 cards; fifty-nine signed with an additional secretarial-signed card of Luckman. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $400. Estimate $800/$1,200. SOLD FOR $1,422
