Philadelphia Flyers (Boston Bruins) - 1974 LeRoy Neiman Signed Limited-Edition Serigraph with Bobby Orr

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $1,185

Titled Philadelphia Flyers (Boston Bruins), issued in 1974, serigraph numbered "AP," signed by Neiman in pencil in the lower right (grading "10"). Edition limited to 300 numbered impressions plus proofs. This is one of Neiman's earliest and most important hockey works. The evocative image captures the action between the Philadelphia Flyers and Boston Bruins. Both Bobby Orr and Phil Esposito are pictured attacking the Flyers' goal, which is defended by goalie Bernie Parewt with help from Bobby Clark and Rick McLeish. The serigraph, which measures 37 x 25 inches (image area), displays moderate toning from having once been matted and framed. After being removed from the frame it was then rolled and stored in that manner by our consignor for many years. As a result of being rolled the serigraph now displays a number of light-to-moderate vertical fissures. It should be noted that if the print were matted and framed once again, most of the fissure lines would only be noticeable when viewed from certain angles and the print would display as Excellent to Mint or better. Because it has been rolled for so long and was consigned to us in that manner, this piece will be shipped in a tube. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800. SOLD FOR $1,185
