1974 Reggie Jackson Oakland A's Game-Used Road Jersey

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $4,444

Oakland A's road jersey worn by Hall of Fame outfielder Reggie Jackson in 1974. Graded A8 by MEARS. The green knit jersey features the "A's" logo on the front and the number "9" on the reverse. The name "Jackson" is lettered on the reverse, directly above the number. Both the front logo and number are appliquéd in white on gold tackle twill, while the name on the back is appliquéd in white tackle twill. Located on the front tail are a "McAuliffe" label, a "1974" year tag, a "42" size tag, and a laundry tag. The jersey, which is original and unaltered, displays moderate wear throughout, including a few light stains on both the logo and number. This jersey dates to the club's third consecutive World Championship season, which also marked the final championship season for the A's under the ownership of Charles Finley. Jackson was one of the mainstays of Oakland's championship run and the club's top slugger during that period. Jackson once again did his part in 1974, finishing the year with 29 home runs, 93 RBI, and a .289 batting average. Interestingly, we have never seen a Reggie Jackson Oakland A's jersey dating from either 1972 or 1973. Of the few known Reggie Jackson jerseys dating from 1974, only two are road examples, with the offered jersey the finest, by far, with regard to condition (the other example is faded and badly discolored). Graded A8 by MEARS (base grade of 10, with 2 points deducted for the light stains on the logo and number). This is both a rare and historically significant Reggie Jackson jersey dating from Oakland's fabled 1972-1974 World Championship dynasty. LOA from Troy Kinunen and Dave Bushing/MEARS. The jersey has been framed to total dimensions of 33.5 x 37 inches. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $3,000+. SOLD FOR $4,444
