1940s PM10 Lou Gehrig "Never Forgotten" Stadium Pin
Starting Bid - $100, Sold For - $415
Rare 1940s PM10 pin of Lou Gehrig issued shortly after his death in 1941. This example is the second of only two issued PM10 "stadium pins" of Lou Gehrig sold at Yankee Stadium, and is distinguished by the fact that it marks his passing in 1941. Unlike other PM10 pins of Yankees from this era, which feature a white border displaying the player's name and team, this example displays a black border and reads "Never Forgotten - Lou Gehrig." Both this and the earlier 1930s Gehrig white-border PM10 pin are two key pins from the issue, and are among the rarest as well. The offered example displays a few light scratches to the front celluloid surface. In Very Good condition. Diameter: 1-3/4 inch. Disclosure per section 13 of REA's terms and conditions: This lot has been consigned from the personal collection of an executive or employee of Robert Edward Auctions (or a relative of an executive or employee). Reserve $100. Estimate $200+. SOLD FOR $415
