1925 Pittsburgh Pirates World Series Ticket Stub - Game 1 - Walter Johnson Victory

Starting Bid - $100, Sold For - $474

Rare and exceptionally high grade ticket stub for Game 1 of the 1925 World Series held at Forbes Field in Pittsburgh. The 1925 World Series matched the defending champion Washington Senators against the Pittsburgh Pirates. This was a historic series, as it marked the first time in World Series play that a team overcame a three-games-to-one deficit to win the World Championship. The club that accomplished that feat was the Pirates, who defeated Walter Johnson 9-7 in the seventh and deciding game to claim its second World Championship in franchise history. Johnson had shut down the Pirates in his previous two starts, including Game 1, when he allowed just one run on five hits in Washington's 4-1 victory. The ticket (4.2 x 2 inches) displays a miniscule edge tear along the top and is otherwise in spectacular Excellent to Mint condition. Reserve $100. Estimate $200/$300. SOLD FOR $474
