1960 Bazooka Complete SGC-Graded Set (12 panels, 36 cards)

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $2,938

Extremely high grade 1960 Bazooka complete set in panels, entirely graded and encapsulated by SGC. 1960 was the second year of Bazooka baseball cards, and the first set to be issued in the three-card panel format. Hall of Famers in this set include Mantle, Clemente, Aaron, Banks, Mays, Berra, Kaline, Spahn, Killebrew, Ashburn, Roberts, F. Robinson, and Aparicio. This is an incredibly sharp-looking set! SGC condition report: One panel NM/MT+ 92: #19-20-21 Spahn/Killebrew. Six panels NM/MT 88: #4-5-6 Aaron, 7-8-9 Clemente/Berra, 13-14-15 Mays, 16-17-18 Kaline, 22-23-24 Aparicio/Hodges/Ashburn, and 25-26-27 Fox/Roberts. Three panels NM 84: #1-2-3 Banks, 31-32-33 Mantle, and 34-35-36 Kuenn. One panel EX 60: #28-29-30 Wynn/F. Robinson/Colavito. One panel VG/EX 50: #10-11-12 Cepeda (downgraded from NM only because of a tiny surface wrinkle; Nr/Mt appearance!). This is an extremely impressive, flawlessly clean ultra high-grade set of these unusual, scarce, and underrated Bazooka Bubble Gum package-design cards. Bazooka panels rarely receive numerical grades because they are hand-cut (issued one three-card panel per Bazooka gum box) and the cut must be perfect and include the dotted lines to qualify. This is a virtually perfect set, by far the finest we have ever seen, let alone offered. Total: 12 Bazooka panels (three cards per panel for a total of 36 cards) representing a complete uncut three-card panel set. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000+. SOLD FOR $2,938
