Scarce 1953 Bowman Color Unopened Cello Pack (Low Number)

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $1,880

Graded VG+ 3.5 by GAI. Extremely rare original unopened cello pack of 1953 Bowman Color baseball cards. Clean and tightly sealed cello pack with corner tears, which are all so common with cello packs from this era, and solely responsible for the modest technical grade. The cards and the pack itself have a MINT appearance! Only extremely close examination allows for a few small cello tears to be detected. The top card is Smokey Burgess. Card #22 of Bob Porterfield appears on the bottom of the pack. This is a particularly rare unopened cello pack, among the rarest of all 1950s unopened packs and the first 1953 Bowman cello pack we have ever seen (we have heard of the existence of only a few other examples over the years), direct from the "golden era" of baseball cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500+. SOLD FOR $1,880
