1951 Bowman #2 Yogi Berra - PSA MINT 9

Starting Bid - $2,500, Sold For - $5,875

Graded MINT 9 by PSA. Highest-graded example! Of the 614 examples submitted to PSA, only eight examples are graded at this level with none graded higher. Extraordinary ultra high-grade example of #2 Yogi Berra from the 1951 Bowman set. The number-one card in most sets has long been recognized as challenging to find in high grade, but in most cases a high-grade number-two card is just as difficult to find. That is certainly the case with 1951 Bowman. The #1 Whitey Ford has always received the lion's share of attention in the 1951 Bowman set, but the #2 card of Hall of Famer Yogi Berra is right up there as one of gum-card collecting's greatest condition rarities. This pack-fresh beauty is perfectly centered with four razor-sharp corners, snow-white borders, and deep, rich colors. The portrait image is bright and crisp with near perfect registry. The reverse is also perfectly clean with bold text. All Bowmans are extremely rare to find in Mint condition, but as card #2 in the 1951 Bowman set, Berra is a special condition rarity, and a particularly extraordinary card to find in such incredibly high grade. This is a very rarely offered world-class Mint example. SMR value is $9,500. Reserve $2,500. Estimate $5,000+. SOLD FOR $5,875
