1949 Bowman #100 Gil Hodges Rookie - PSA MINT 9

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $3,231

Graded MINT 9 by PSA. One of only nine examples graded at this level with none graded higher. Ultra high-grade example of Gil Hodges’ rookie card. Four sharp corners, perfect registry, and centered just a hint to the right. Flawless reverse with bold printing and centered to the left (approximately 35/65). Hodges went on to win three Gold Glove awards and was named to eight All-Star teams, but when this card was issued, he was at the very beginning of his spectacular career, which included seven World Series appearances and lasted well into the mid-1960s. This is an extremely highly graded example of Hodges’ first gum card from the classic 1949 Bowman set. SMR value for the assigned grade is $2,500. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000+. SOLD FOR $3,231
