1889 N29 Allen Ginter Morrell - SGC NM 84

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $940

Graded NM 84 by SGC. Only example graded at this level by SGC, with just one graded higher. Outstanding high-grade example of John Morrell from the N29 Allen & Ginter Second Series Champions set. Crisp and bright, with four sharp corners, and perfect registry. The reverse has just a hint of very light toning at the left and right sides, possibly the result of long ago being removed from an album. This is extremely minor, but the only factor which we can see which might keep this gem from easily grading Nr/Mt-Mt. Nineteenth-century cards are rarely found this sharp. This is an extraordinary high-grade gem from one of card collecting's most classic issues. The equivalent SMR value is $1,000. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800+. SOLD FOR $940
