1907-1919 Baseball Postcard Collection Including 1907 A. C. Dietsche Tigers and 1919 Reds (59)

Collection of fifty-nine baseball postcards dating from 1907 through 1919, representing five different highly regarded issues, including seven Hall of Famers. 1) 1907 PC765-1 A. C. Dietsche Detroit Tigers complete set minus three (13 of 16 plus four duplicates for a total of 17 postcards): Missing both Cobbs (batting and fielding) and Downs for completion. Consists of: Coughlin (2 - one is 1908), Crawford (HOF, Vg-Ex), Donovan (2), Jennings (HOF, Vg), Jones, Killian (2), Mullin, O'Leary, Payne, Rossman, Schaefer (2 - one is 1908), Schmidt, and Siever. None have been mailed and all have clean reverses (except one has pencil writing on back). Vg to Vg-Ex overall (except one lesser), all with much better eye appeal. 2) 1907 PC765-2 A. C. Dietsche Chicago Cubs (4 postcards): Chance (HOF, Fr), Evers (HOF, Fr - mailed), Moran (small "50" written in pencil on back, otherwise Vg-Ex), and Overall (Vg). This series of Chicago Cubs players was issued by the same company that produced the Tigers postcard series. The Cubs postcards are much rarer than the Tigers series. 3) 1907-1909 PC773-2 H. M. Taylor Co. (2 postcards): Coughlin Batting (Gd); and Detroit team with Cobb (mailed, otherwise Vg). 4) 1907 PC778 Morgan Stationery "Red Belts": 26 assorted (10 different of the 12 cards in the set, plus sixteen duplicates for a total of 26 postcards): Missing only Huggins (stadium background) and Opening of the Season 1907. Consists of: After a High One (2), A Home Run (2), Hit & Run (2), two Huggins Second Baseman Par Excellence (drawing background), In Consultation (3), It's All in the Game - "Noise" (4), Out to the Long Green (2), Practice Makes Perfect (3), Safe (4), and Use Two if Necessary (2). 14 of the 26 postcards have never been mailed and have clean reverses; the balance have been mailed; great-looking group across-the-board, overall Vg-Ex (includes a few Vg and a few Ex). 5) 1919 PC799 Cincinnati Reds World's Champions partial set (8 different plus two duplicates for a total of 10 postcards): Allen (2), Daubert, Fisher, Gerner (2), Mitchell, Moran, Ring, and See. None have been mailed and all are clean on the back (except three have pencil writing on back). Vg overall with far superior eye appeal. Total: 59 postcards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+.
