1910 PC796 Sepia Postcard Collection (5)

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,175

Collection of five different cards from the PC796 sepia postcard set issued in 1910, highlighted by Hall of Famers Frank Chance and Ed Walsh. The manufacturer of this sepia-toned postcard series is unknown. The PC796 set is one of the most striking of the era. The collection is comprised of the following: Bridwell (tack hole at the top, Fr-Gd), Frank Chance (HOF, Vg-Ex), Hoffman (tiny number "20" written in pencil on back, otherwise Vg), Lord (Gd, front is Ex but reverse has a small area of surface paper loss), and Ed Walsh (HOF, tiny number "50" written in pencil on back otherwise Vg). All of the cards have never been mailed and have no writing on their traditional postcard reverses. Technically in low-to-mid grade, most cards in the collection have a far better overall appearance than is suggested by the condition report. This is a very attractive group of these rare and distinctive postcards, with two of the five cards featuring Hall of Famers. Dimensions: 3.5 x 5.5 inches. Total: 5 cards. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $1,175
