1936 R314 Goudey Wide Pen Premium Joe DiMaggio - Rookie Card!

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $2,233

Graded EX 5 by PSA. Only three examples are graded higher by PSA. Goudey premium dating from DiMaggio's first full season with the Yankees in 1936. This is an extremely significant card as it is, with good reason, universally recognized to be one of Joe DiMaggio's true rookie cards. This is also the key card from the R314 Goudey "Wide Pen" series. This card (submitted for grading by REA) was very carefully chosen for purchase by our consignor in the early days of conventions in the 1980s, long before the advent of professional grading, precisely due to its outstanding condition. The card is bright and crisp with outstanding picture quality, four square corners, and perfect centering. Both the front and back are bright and clean. PSA is very hard on these premiums. In our opinion, it certainly has a Nr/Mt or better appearance. This is an extremely historic and overlooked card, one of Joe DiMaggio's true rookie cards, and one that would be a worthy addition to and an extremely significant highlight in even the most advanced card or Hall of Fame collection. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $2,233
