1934-1936 R318 Batter-Up #144 Jimmy Foxx - SGC NM/MT 88 - Highest Graded!

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,644

Graded NM/MT 88 by SGC. Highest-graded example by SGC! Stunning ultra high-grade example of Hall of Famer Jimmy Foxx from the classic 1934-1936 R318 Batter-Up set. There are two Jimmy Foxx cards in the R318 set (#28 and #144). This is the much rarer #144 Foxx from the high-number series. This card is a pack-fresh gem! Perfectly crisp and clean, both front and back, with four sharp corners, and a crystal-clear image of Foxx in a swinging pose. The R318 Batter-Up set is universally recognized as one of the most significant of all prewar baseball-card issues. This is a very sharp-looking card, with the card background complete and intact. All Batter-Ups are rare to find in NM-MT condition. Of the 2,378 R318s graded to date by SGC, only 73 have received a grade of NM-MT or better. This is a tremendous high-grade example of one of the key cards in the R318 Batter-Up set and one of the 1930s most classic bubble-gum cards. The equivalent SMR value for the assigned grade is $2,250. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $2,644
