1921 Exhibit Supply Company Complete Set: #2 PSA Registry! (64)

Starting Bid - $1,500, Sold For - $7,638

Presented is one of the finest complete 64-card sets of 1921 Exhibits ever assembled. This is the number-two All-Time Finest set on the PSA registry. The PSA set registry GPA of 5.13 is particularly extraordinary for this oversized-card set. This set includes twenty-one Hall of Famers. Each card has been graded and encapsulated by PSA. Two cards are graded NM 7, one is graded EX-MT+ 6.5, sixteen cards are graded EX-MT 6, thirty-six cards are EX 5, eight cards are VG-EX 4, and one is graded VG 3. As can easily be seen, even the lower-graded cards have tremendous visual appeal, in most cases far better than suggested by their technical grades. 1921 was the very first year the legendary Exhibit Supply Company of Chicago issued cards. They would go on to issue sets for the next fifty years. These cards were sold by Exhibit card machines at amusement parks and penny arcades, one penny per card. The key card from the 1921 Exhibits set features the legendary Babe Ruth. This is one of Ruth's earliest cards featuring him with the Yankees. Additional Hall of Famers featured in the set include Ty Cobb, Rogers Hornsby, Walter Johnson, and Tris Speaker, among others (twenty-one HOFers total). The PSA grades are as follows: Two NM 7: Dykes and W. Johnson (HOF). One EX-MT+ 6.5: Gardner. Sixteen EX-MT 6: Bush, Carey (HOF), Cruise, Daubert, Dauss, Deal, Faber (HOF), Frisch (HOF), Grimes (HOF), Konetchy, Lavan, Neale, Olsen, Rapp, Whitted, and Wingo. Thirty-six EX 5: Adams, Bancroft (HOF), Cobb (HOF), E. Collins (HOF), J. Collins, Fournier, Gowdy, Haines (HOF), Harris (HOF), Holke, Hollicher, Hornsby (HOF), J. Johnson, Jones, Kelly (HOF), Kerr, Killefer, Maranville (HOF), Mays, McInnis, Naylor, O'Neil, Peckinpaugh, Perkins, Ring, Ruth (HOF), Shang, Shanks, Shocker, Sisler (HOF), Speaker (HOF), Tobin, Veach, Wheat (HOF), C. Williams, and K. Williams. Eight VG-EX 4: Alexander (HOF), Burns, Coveleski (HOF), Dugan, Powell, Rice (HOF), Schalk (HOF), and Scott. One VG 3: Groh. Many of these cards are the highest- or second-highest graded examples in the entire PSA Population Report. The consignor has invested years in assembling and upgrading this set. In addition to its great significance as the Exhibit Supply Company's first set, Exhibits are both extremely substantial and far rarer than many other cards from the era and present an extraordinary value for quality cards from the 1920s. Total: 64 cards. Reserve $1,500. Estimate $3,000/$5,000+. SOLD FOR $7,638
