1915 Zeenut PCL Partial Set (87/141)

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $7,050

Collection of 87 different (of the 141 in set as checklisted in The Standard Catalog ) 1915 Zeenut cards featuring Pacific Coast League players. One card (Brooks) included is not listed in the 2011 Standard Catalog checklist but is known by advanced collectors. The 1915 Zeenut set is comprised of players from six different teams (Los Angeles, Oakland, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, and Venice) and is considered by many to be among the rarest of all Zeenut series. A large group such as this is very rarely seen or offered. 35% of the cards range from Vg to Ex (with a couple Ex-Mt), and 65% range from Pr to Gd-Vg. Keys: Burns (Vg-Ex/Ex) and J. Williams (Ex-Mt). The collection consists of the following: Ables, Alcock, Arbogast, Barbour, Baum, Bayless, Benham, Berger, Beumiller, Blankenship, Block, Bodie, Boles, Bromley, Brooks, Burns, Carlisle, Charles, Christian, Clarke, Couch, Daniels, DeCanniere, Dillon, Elliot, Fanning, Faye, Fisher, Fitzgerald, Gardiner, Gedeon, Gleischmann, Gregory, Guest, Halla, Hallinan, Hannah, Henley, Hetling, Hitt (winding up), Hitt (throwing), Hogan, Hosp, Johnson, Jones, Kane, Karr, Klawitter, Koerner, Krause, Kuhn, LaRoy, Leard, Lindsay, Litschi, Malarkey, Manda, McCredie, Meek, Meloan, Middleton, Mitze, Morgan, Mundorff, Ness, Pernoll, Piercey, Price, Prough, Prueitt, Reisigl, Rohrer, Ryan (LA), Ryan (Salt Lake), Schaller, Schmidt, Sepulveda, Shinn, Smith, Spencer, Tennant, Tobin, West, J. Williams, Wolter, Wolverton, and Zacher. As is usually the case with Zeenuts, the coupon at the bottom of each card has been neatly clipped away, as intended, to be redeemed for valuable prizes. Also as is usually the case with Zeenuts, most of the cards have a far superior appearance than suggested by their technically accurate modest grades. This "comes with the territory" with Zeenuts. This 1915 Zeenut partial set is part of an extraordinary comprehensive Zeenut collection, the finest we have ever handled. The collection was assembled over a period of many years by an extremely advanced pioneer collector, and has been broken down by year into a number of smaller but still very substantial lots. Total: 87 cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000++. SOLD FOR $7,050
