1911 Zeenut PCL Partial Set (124/147) Including Halla and Peckinpaugh

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $9,400

Collection of 124 different (of the 147 in set as checklisted in The Standard Catalog ) 1911 Zeenut cards featuring Pacific Coast League players, highlighted by Halla and Peckinpaugh. 1911 was the very first year the legendary Collins Candy Company of San Francisco issued cards. They would go on to issue sets for the next twenty-eight years. The 1911 Zeenut set is comprised of players from six different teams (Los Angeles, Oakland, Portland, Sacramento, San Francisco, and Vernon). A large group such as this is very rarely seen or offered. 48% of the cards range from Vg to Vg-Ex (with a few Ex), and 52% range from Pr to Gd-Vg. Keys: Halla (Vg) and Peckinpaugh (Vg). The collection consists of the following: Abbott, Ables, Agnew (small pose), Akin (small), Arellanes, Arlett (small), Barry, Baum, Bernard, Berry, Brackenridge, Brashear, Brown (small), Browning, Burrell (small), Byram, Carlisle, Carman, Carson (large), Carson (small), Castleton, Chadbourne, Christian, Couchman, Coy, Criger, Cutshaw, Daley, Danzig, Delhi, Delmas (small), Dillon, Driscoll (name correct), Dulin, Fanning, Fitzgerald, Flater, French, Fullerton, Gleason, Gregory, Halla, Harkness, Heitmuller (large), Heitmuller (small), Henley, Hetling, Hiester, Hitt (large), Hoffman, Hogan, Holland (large), Holland (small), Hosp, Howard (large), Kane, Kerns, Kilroy, Knight, Koestner, Krueger, Kuhn, LaLonge, Lerchen, Leverenz, Lewis, Lindsay, Lober, Madden, Maggert, Mahoney, Martinoni, McArdle, McCredie, McDonnell, McKune (small), Meikle, Melchior, Metzger, Miller, Mitze, Mohler, Moore (small), Moskiman (lettering small), Murray, Naylor, Nebinger, Nourse, Noyes (small), O'Rourke, Patterson (Oakland), Patterson (Vernon), Pearce, Peckinpaugh, Pernoll, Pfyl, Powell, Raleigh (small), Rapps, Rodgers, Ryan (Portland, no box), Ryan (SF), Seaton, Shaw, Sheehan, Shinn, Smith (LA, small), Smith (SF, large), Smith (SF, small), Steen, Stewart, Stinson (small), Sutor, Tennant, Thomas, Thompson, Thornton, Tiedeman, Van Buren, Vitt, Wares, Wolverton, Zacher, and Zamloch. As is usually the case with Zeenuts, most of the cards have a far superior appearance than suggested by their technically accurate modest grades. This "comes with the territory" with Zeenuts. This 1911 Zeenut near-complete set is part of an extraordinary comprehensive Zeenut collection, the finest we have ever handled. The collection was assembled over a period of many years by an extremely advanced pioneer collector, and has been broken down by year into a number of smaller but still very substantial lots. Total: 124 cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000++. SOLD FOR $9,400
