1915 E145 Cracker Jack #40 James Austin - SGC MINT 96

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $823

Graded MINT 96 by SGC. Only two examples graded at this level by SGC, with none graded higher. Extremely crisp ultra high-grade factory-set fresh card featuring James Austin from Pittsburgh of the Federal League. This is of special note artistically as it is one of the few horizontal poses in the entire set. While Cracker Jacks were issued one card per box, in 1915 the entire set of 176 cards could also be ordered by mail in exchange for 100 coupons, or 1 coupon plus 25 cents. Cracker Jacks are universally regarded as one of the classic and most highly regarded baseball-card sets ever produced. This is a stunning ultra high-grade example, perfectly clean front and back, no stains, four razor-sharp corners, flawless registration, and with a particularly deep red background. This card is a MINT gem! The equivalent SMR value for the assigned grade is $2,500. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000++. SOLD FOR $823
