1916 D303 Mother's Bread Eddie Plank - Highest Graded!

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $3,231

Graded EX 60 by SGC. Highest-graded example by SGC! Rare bakery card of Eddie Plank from the 1916 D303 Mother's Bread set. This series shares designs with several closely related caramel issues (E90-1 American Caramel Company, E92 Dockman & Sons, T216 Kotton, etc.) from the same era. All Mother's Bread cards are extremely rare, but an example of Hall of Fame pitcher Eddie Plank is especially noteworthy and desirable. This card is all the more fascinating in that it is one of the few cards featuring Plank with the St. Louis Americans. Produced by the General Baking Co. of New Orleans, the Mother's Bread series was regionally issued only in the Louisiana area. This is an exceptionally attractive card with bright, crisp colors, outstanding surface gloss, even wear on the corners, and exceptional centering. The reverse has a boldly printed advertisement. This is an extremely sharp looking example of one of the rarest and most interesting of all Eddie Plank cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000+. SOLD FOR $3,231
