1911 T3 Turkey Red #19 Addie Joss

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $1,645

Graded EX 60 by SGC. Extremely attractive example of Hall of Famer Addie Joss from the T3 Turkey Red cabinet-card series. It is fascinating to note that the T3 Joss card was issued in the year of his passing (as was the T205 card of Joss, which mentions his sudden death in the text on the reverse). Joss tragically passed away from meningitis on April 14, 1911. The premium offer on the back of the T3 Joss, as listed at the bottom of the reverse of the card, expires June 30, 1911. Bright and crisp, both front and back, perfectly centered, with light even wear on the corners, a few tiny white spots on the bottom border, and a very clean, boldly printed checklist reverse. This is one of Addie Joss’ most striking cards, in an extremely high grade. The equivalent SMR value for the assigned grade is $2,000. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $1,645
