1911 M116 Sporting Life Walter Johnson - PSA NM 7

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $3,819

Graded NM 7 by PSA. Featuring a majestic portrait of the legendary pitcher, the Walter Johnson card is one of the key Hall of Famers in the M116 Sporting Life set. Like his portrait card in T206, this card is universally recognized as one of Johnson's most striking and classic baseball cards. This is a stunning card in all respects (and, in our opinion, very conservatively graded; if this card were graded PSA 8 NM-MT we would not bat an eye). All four corners are sharp (under magnification only, the lower left shows the slightest hint more wear than the other three). The card is perfectly clean, both front and back, with snow-white borders. The centering on front is slightly to the right. The back of the card is flawless, perfectly clean, with bold blue print, and centered toward the bottom. The M116 Johnson represents an excellent value compared to many other quality 1910-era issues featuring Johnson that do not compare in terms of rarity. This card would be a worthy addition to even the most advanced world-class vintage-card collection, and a highlight addition to any high-grade M116 Sporting Life, Walter Johnson, or Hall of Fame card collection. SMR value for the assigned grade is $3,750. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000+. SOLD FOR $3,819
