1911 T205 Gold Border R. Hoblitzell - Rare No Stats Variation

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $5,581

Graded GOOD 30 by SGC. 1911 T205 Gold Border variation card of Cincinnati first baseman Dick Hoblitzell, with no statistics on the reverse. There are several variations of Hoblitzell in the T205 set. The "No Stats" version is by far the rarest. In fact, this variation card is acknowledged to be the single rarest of all cards in the T205 "Gold Border" series. Though not as well known as the greatest and most valuable tobacco-card rarities of T206, many advanced tobacco-card collectors believe the T205 "Hoblitzell No Stats" card is comparable in rarity to (or possibly even rarer than) the T206 Wagner, Plank, or Magie cards. This is an impressive mid-grade example, extremely crisp and clean, with even wear at the corners, minor edge wear, and exceptionally bright, bold colors. This is a very attractive and conservatively graded high-quality example of this significant tobacco-card rarity. The equivalent SMR value for the assigned grade is $5,350. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000+. SOLD FOR $5,581
