1911 T205 Gold Border PSA- SGC-Graded Collection (28)

Starting Bid - $2,000, Sold For - $5,581

Extremely impressive collection of twenty-eight (26 different) T205 Gold Borders all graded EX to EX-MT (including one NM) encapsulated by PSA (9 cards) and SGC (19 cards). Highlights include one minor leaguer and a few rarities (Kleinow, Latham, Hoblitzell "Cin." after 2nd 1908). This collection has been carefully assembled, with an eye for visual appeal and value. The cards in this collection could provide upgrades for almost any T205 set or provide as strong foundation for the assembly of an exceptional high-grade set. The PSA grades are as follows: One NM 7: Scott. Six EX-MT 6: Hoblitzell ("Cin." after 2nd 1908), Kleinow, Lord, Merritt (minor leaguer), Pfeister, and Phillippe. Two EX 5: Merkle and Wilson. The SGC grades are as follows: Six EX/NM 80: Bates, Latham (W.A. Latham on back), Murray, O'Leary, Reulbach, and Titus. Eight EX+ 70: Byrne, Daubert, Doyle, Fletcher, Harmon (both ears), Moran (no stray line), Phelps, and Wiltse (both ears). Five EX 60: Downey, Doyle, Hoblitzell ("Cin." after 2nd 1908, Cycle back), Killian, and Leever. The T205 set is one of card collecting's most condition-sensitive issues. Like most PSA- and SGC-graded T205s, the cards in this collection display far better than suggested by their technically accurate grades. This is a magnificent high-grade collection of one of card collecting's most classic issues. This collection represents nearly 15% of the entire set, and is an ideal foundation for the building of a beautiful entirely graded T205 set, of which very few have ever been assembled. The equivalent SMR value for the collection is $6,940 (there is no SMR value for the EX+ 5.5 grade, so the eight EX+ 5.5 examples were figured using the EX 5 SMR value). Total: 28 cards. Reserve $2,000. Estimate $4,000+. SOLD FOR $5,581
