1910 D322 Tip Top Bread Pittsburgh Pirates Near-Complete Set (20/25)

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $3,525

Near-complete set of 1910 D322 Tip Top Bread Pittsburgh Pirates, consisting of twenty of the twenty-five cards in the set. Missing only Dreyfuss, Clarke, Wagner, Hyatt, and Flynn for completion. This extremely rare 25-card set was regionally issued in the Pittsburgh area by the Ward-Mackey Company, one card per loaf. Each card features a member of the Pirates, the National League champions of the previous year. The reverse of each card has advertising for Tip Top Bread, and provides a complete checklist for the set. Even sample cards from this set are rare. This near-complete set represents a particularly great opportunity for collectors interested in collecting this elusive issue, without having to contend with several of the most expensive cards in the set. We have selected three cards to be graded by SGC. Condition composite: One Vg-EX: O'Connor (SGC VG/EX 50). Five Vg: Camnitz (SGC VG 40), Phillippe, Byrne, Simon, and Forbes Field. Six Good: Locke, Leach, Gibson, Miller, Abbaticchio, and Webb (SGC GOOD 30). Six range from Pr to Fr: Adams, Leifield, Maddox, Campbell, Wilson, and Leever. Two trimmed: White and Mascot (three borders trimmed off). Though the cards in this near set vary in grade, several cards are particularly strong, and most of even the lowest-graded examples have tremendous eye-appeal. Total: 20 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000+. SOLD FOR $3,525
