1909-1911 T206 Ty Cobb - Bat On Shoulder

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,528

Graded VG/EX 50 by SGC. Very attractive mid-grade example of this classic tobacco card of Hall of Famer Ty Cobb. This card was one of the condition highlights from a very substantial, totally untouched collection of 1910-era tobacco cards consigned to this auction (all cards from this collection appear in several lots of the auction) that was saved for decades by the family of the original owner. The T206 Ty Cobb bat-on-shoulder pose is one of the key cards in the set and the second most valuable of the four Ty Cobb cards in the T206 series. Vg-Ex card with no creases, light wear on the corners, and centered just a hint to the left. The Piedmont reverse has sharp blue printing. This is a very attractive crease-free example of one of the key cards of Ty Cobb from the most popular set of the era. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $1,528
