1909-1911 T206 Frank Chance - Rare "Hindu" Back

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $3,819

Graded EX 5 by PSA. Brown Hindu back T206 Hall of Famer example. Portrait pose of Hall of Famer Frank Chance (red background) from the T206 White Borders series, with a brown Hindu advertising reverse. Hindu (brown) is a very scarce back, not as rare as Red Hindu, but very unusual and extremely rare compared to most other T206 advertising backs. This is a very clean example of Frank Chance. The card is bright and crisp, both front and back, with no creases, bold color, and even wear to the corners. Centered 40/60 top to bottom. The reverse is perfectly clean with bold brown print against an off-white background. It is also interesting to note that on occasion there surfaces an example from the T206 series which projects a marked departure from the color norm. The Frank Chance offered here presents such a case. The card features a distinctly orange background, as opposed to the familiar deep red background that is normally seen with this T206 portrait card of Chance. This is a very interesting rare-back variety of this classic Frank Chance card from the premier tobacco-card set of the era. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+. SOLD FOR $3,819
